Everything about The Dublin Transportation Office totally explained

The Dublin Transportation Office (DTO) is a government agency, formed in 1996, which provides transport and land use advice to organisations operating in the Greater Dublin Area. It has relatively limited powers and isn't a full transport authority. However the DTO is largely responsible for the Quality Bus Corridor initiative which has had some success in promoting use of buses in Dublin. A fully-fledged transport authority for Dublin (External Link) has been promised by the Irish Government. To be known as the Dublin Transport Authority (DTA), this body will begin it's work on Jan 1st 2009 (External Link). The DTA will (External Link) subsume the activities of the current DTO.
